Yuen San Lim Lim was born in South China in 1937. At the age of fifteen he left China to join his older brother and sister in the United States. He won statewide awards in Arizona while still in school. From 1962 to 1965 he studied with John Cunningham at the original Carmel Art Institute. Painting in oil and watercolor, Lim explores a wide variety of subject matter. A one-time champion weight lifter and judo expert, he paints with vigor and sensitivity, combining Eastern and Western approaches. Lim has been a member of the Carmel Art Association since 1965. Lim now lives in California.
